Shane’s business experience and energetic leadership will deliver a new approach to County Commission, solving problems that face District 4 and delivering a new kind of leadership in Knox County.

Public Schools

Shane will fight for fully funded public schools, empowered educators, and a stronger Knox County Schools that sets up every student for success. Creating a stronger public education system starts with raising teacher pay. With his kids attending Rocky Hill Elementary, Bearden Middle, and West High, Shane knows the dedication that KCS teachers and support staff put into their work every day. Shane will work closely with the administration and our local schools to deliver a KCS that is equitable for every student, sets our future generations up for success, and adequately rewards teachers for their work.

Neighborhoods & Parks

District 4 is home to unique and vibrant neighborhoods, and we deserve a County Commissioner who shows up when and where it counts. Shane is running to strengthen our community by protecting the culture, history, and affordability of Knox County’s neighborhoods. Shane will ensure that the County is taking a thorough, coordinated approach to the quality of life issues that affect every neighborhood: from public safety and walkability, to investing in our parks and expanding greenways. We must focus on making County government more proactive and effective at serving our residents and neighborhoods.

Economic Growth

Shane will work with county stakeholders and partners in the private sector to create good-paying jobs, expand apprenticeship programs, and build a 21st century economy. He will deliver on programs aimed at solving economic challenges that we see in our community every day. There's dignity in all work, and Shane recognizes how a good job can open doors for an entire family. The first step of fighting poverty is ensuring that all Knox Countians have the same opportunity to succeed. That's why he will always be committed to expanding opportunity for students and young professionals to set our younger generations up for success and retain local talent.

Infrastructure & Housing

Shane works in affordable housing in his day job as a banker, and he’s seen the average loan amount for first time home-buyers increase from under $100,000 to nearly $300,000. Shane understands the need for sustainably increasing our housing stock to drive down housing costs and ensure folks can afford to put a roof over their head. Shane will work to sustainably grow our housing stock while bringing our infrastructure into the 21st century. Knox County’s current means of sprawling growth is putting stress on major roadways, particularly along Northshore and Ebenezer. Our local government must act with forethought and preparedness for needed infrastructure improvements to match our growth and serve taxpayers well.

Leading with Kindness

Shane’s campaign tagline is “Lead with Kindness” because in today’s politics we need leaders who rise above the noise and lead with kindness and compassion. On County Commission, Shane will be a voice of honesty and decency, always putting the people of the 4th District above politics. As a soldier, Shane took an oath to support and defend our constitution — and to put his country before himself. Shane is continuing his commitment to our democracy and to this country by putting those values at the forefront of his campaign, working to bring people together for our common good. As your next County Commissioner, Shane will stand firm with those values and lead with kindness each and every day in his service to Knox County.
